This paper includes the general features and degree of integration of countries in the SEE region on the eve of the transition in 1989. It offers information regarding the most important political and economic events which have taken place in the SEE regionin in the 1990s, and the way they have affected trade relations among this countries. The paper analyzes the trade patterns in Southeast Europe and impact of transition and disintegration of the market. It includes the post-2000 trade liberalisation in SEE and offer some policy recommendations regarding the EU policies for the SEE region. |
