Building the Common Regional Market: A Workshop for Western Balkans Change Makers

Participate in this unique opportunity for learning and networking with colleagues to contribute to the Common Regional Market and regional cooperation!

ACIT and the Albanian Centre for European Policies are pleased to organise a four-day workshop programme for staff of parliaments and ministries from the Western Balkans, funded by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC). The focus and objective of the workshop is to provide practical information and build capacities regarding the measures to be undertaken by authorities in the region for the Common Regional Market.

The workshop will take place in Tirana, Albania, from 11 – 14 November.

Full board and lodging will be provided to participants during the training, including transport and accommodation.

 

The programme

During the four days of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to enhance and deepen their knowledge of the Common Regional Market, the EU internal market, measures required in the next stages of the process, and challenges to be encountered. In addition, they will strengthen their skills and explore potential ideas to promote cooperation and exchange of experiences in the region and with EU member states.

The programme will combine different formats to maximise the learning potential:

  • Interactive informative sessions;
  • Dedicated session focusing on skills;
  • Social activities and opportunities to expand your professional network.

 Implementation of the CRM requires an increased level of information and awareness of all stakeholders, especially national parliaments, and of the relevant Ministries involved. This tailor-made capacity building workshop on Common Regional Market aims at contributing to fill the existing gap in the region. Some of the main topics of the workshop sessions include:

– Background on regional cooperation and CRM steps

– The EU Single Market and its main components

– Green agenda

– Innovation and digitalisation

– Migration and brain drain

– Women’s empowerment

– Education, etc.

Why participate?

Learn, network and contribute to the conversation on the Common Regional Market, regional cooperation and EU integration. Throughout the workshop programme, participants will have the opportunity to engage with high-level experts to deepen praktical knowledge of the CRM and strengthen skills requred for the next steps in the process. The programme aims at offering a unique opportunity to connect and exchange ideas with peers across the Region and with high profile experts.

 

Criteria for participation

  • Be a citizen of one of the six Western Balkan economies: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia;
  • Be currently employed as a civil servant in the parliaments/ministries whose field of work relates to regional cooperation within the Western Balkans;
  • Have at least 3 years of professional experience as civil servant and at least 1 year in the field of regional cooperation;
  • Have professional experience in policy making and/or policy formulation;
  • Have a good command of English (at least level B2)

(*) This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244/1999 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.

  • Only selected candidates and those on the reserve list will be notified;
  • A maximum of four participants from each economy of the region will be selected through this call for applications to join the workshop programme in Tirana.
  • Selected participants will be sponsored by the project to attend the workshop programme free of charge. Full board and lodging will be provided to participants during the training, including transport and accommodation.
