The ACIT’s mission is the improvement of the quality of economic governance, business environment and trade policies in Albania, as important instruments for the economic growth and development, as well as the increase in the benefits of the society and citizens from the opportunities created by the trade liberalization and market integration. In its activities, ACIT assists both, the private business and the decision making bodies, in their efforts for increasing the trade performance and ensuring sustainable export growth at both, firm and economy level, through improved competitiveness at all its dimensions. ACIT services and expertise are extended to specific interest groups, to the media and public at large, thus creating the necessary awareness and promoting the participation and informed debate on the effective policies and management issues. Providing up-to-date and filtered trade information, performing quality research work on trade and competitiveness related issues, facilitating policy forums on these subjects, and undertaking capacity building activities, are the main areas of ACIT’s competency and expertise.
ACIT assists the decision-making and marketing processes by providing to the interested parties accurate information and knowledge on conditions, opportunities and risks involved in international trade issues, as well as through unbiased analysis on the trends and problems related to the Albania’s international trade; accomplishment of the WTO commitments; the SAA (Interim Agreement) with the EU and the CEFTA agreement with the regional countries; competitiveness of Albanian economy and firms, etc. Tracking of the implementation of the current trade liberalization and integration agendas Albania has embarked on, promotion of the regional cooperation, the strengthening of the managerial capacities and factorial potential of Albanian firms, creation of a business-friendly policy and regulatory environment, etc., are also key direction of ACIT’s mission.
To accomplish this mission, ACIT has developed its program based on five main pillars. ACIT operates as:
- a study and research centre on economc development and trade policies;
- a resource centre, which provides direct access to information processed on the international trade of Albania and other countries;
- a consultancy and capacity building centre in international trade policies;
- a promotion centre for the competitiveness of the Albanian economy and products.
- a dialogue forum among various stakeholders and interest groups, aiming at the improvement of trade policy formulation and the informed public debate;
